Birch Gold Group are headquartered in the Burbank area of Los Angeles, California and have been in business since 2003. They have around 65 employees and their operating hours are from 7am to 6pm PST Monday thru Friday. They also have a physical presence in San Francisco and Silicon Valley.

When I researched Birch Gold Group, I was impressed with their commitment to customer satisfaction. When I reached out to their Customer Service department, they proudly declared to me that it is their mission to educate their customers about precious metals and their associated benefits, to focus on listening to their customers’ needs rather than on selling to them, and to provide utmost customer service. The gentleman whom I spoke to was very passionate about that.

They employ a team of experienced precious metals professionals which hosts the ‘Market Report’, a show which analyzes the daily news and comments on how current affairs could have an impact on precious metals over both the short and long term. Within their organization they also have a Client Relations Department and a department that specialises in IRAs.

Company Website

birch_gold-website22-09-16I was impressed with Birch Gold Group’s website. It provides a lot of information about investing in gold and other precious metals.

Dominating the Home page is a form where you can request a free information kit and links to videos with exclusive interviews with the likes of former Congressman Ron Paul, CEO of Forbes Inc. Steve Forbes, financial commentator Peter Schiff and veteran investor Jim Rogers.

There is a page entitled ‘Why Precious Metals’ which provides information about the benefits of investing in them, the different types, the difference between bullion and numismatic coins and different ways in which you can invest in precious metals.

I liked that towards the top of the website current prices of gold, silver, platinum and palladium together with daily performance statistics for all four metals are displayed ‘ticker’ style. There is also a link on the site to Interactive and Historical Charts for these metals.

The Precious Metals IRAs page on their website particularly stood out to me. This is comprehensive and provides information about Precious Metals IRAs in general including the benefits and advantages of them, the criteria for and types of metals that can be included, the other types of (non metals) investments that can also be included and the types of retirement accounts that can be rolled over into a precious Metals IRA.

Overall, I found the website very informative and easy on the eye. It strongly advocates the concept of investing in precious metals.

While Birch’s website gives a lot of information about and reasons for investing in the four main precious metals, gold, silver, platinum and palladium, strangely they only include detailed information about gold and silver coins in the Products section of the site.

There is no information about any platinum or palladium coins nor about any types of bars. I must admit that I found that rather disappointing.

The information that they do include however, about gold and silver coins, is varied and detailed with nice images of each type.

Reputation, Ratings and Complaints

Whenever I evaluate a gold IRA company I always pay attention to information provided at the main independent consumer advocacy portals. This is what i discovered during my recent checks into Birch Gold Group.

A+BBB – Better Business Bureau

When I researched Birch Gold Group’s reputation, I found that they have achieved an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau, the highest possible rating.

At the time of my most recent check on the BBB website I noticed that there had been eight closed complaints in the previous 3 years, and four in the previous 12 months. These were reported by BBB to be relating to Advertising/Sales and Product or Service issues. 139 customers had posted reviews with an average rating of 4.55 out of 5.

Disclaimer: These were facts that I found on the BBB website and which I am merely relaying here. I cannot verify the accuracy of this information.

The BBB reports that it knows of no government actions involving the business activities of Birch Gold Group, nor does it have anything to report about their advertising methods.

aaaBCA – Business Consumer Alliance

Birch Gold has been a BCA member since November 2011 and they have had an AAA Company Rating assigned to them, which is the highest achievable. When I last checked there had been 0 complaints recorded over the previous 3 years. There were 7 customer reviews, all of which gave 5 out of 5 Stars.

Disclaimer: This was information I found on the BCA website and which I am merely relaying here. I cannot verify the accuracy of this information.

Exactly as with the BBB, I could see that the BCA has no information about government action or the company’s advertising practices to report. The only additional noteworthy information I found recorded there is a DBA (Doing Business As) of White Horse Capital, LLC.

At the time of my most recent check Birch Gold had a 5 out of 5 stars rating based on 135 reviews. A quick scan of the reviews revealed to me such comments as ‘No Complaints’, Pleased with my experience’, ‘Easy to deal with’ and ‘Good service, helpful staff’.

My Assessment

Birch Gold Group has a solid reputation, as demonstrated by their top ratings with both the BBB and BCA, and their high Trustlink score.  I found a lot of positivity and very little negativity about this company.

Based on my extensive research and considerable personal experience in the precious metals and gold IRA fields, I am comfortable recommending that you consider Birch Gold Group if you are looking to invest in precious metals and/or a Precious Metals IRA.

In my opinion, their commitment to customer service, wealth of information, and solid reputation make them a trustworthy choice in the industry, even though they didn’t quite make it onto my list of top picks.

I encourage you to visit different gold IRA companies’ websites, to explore their products, and to conduct your own research before making any investment decisions.
